Darlene Bordwell Stock Photography
Welcome to my blog showcasing my growing stock photography collection. I travel widely to photograph landscapes, historic sites, people having fun, my crazy dog Sadie, and more. Here I post examples from many of my stock subjects; all images are copyrighted and available for licensing to publishers or as fine-art prints. I'm also happy to take on assignments. Just send me an email inquiry through the link below. Thanks for visiting!

Yates County Family Portrait Project: December 2nd and beyond
I'm very pleased to announce that starting this week, I'm working with the Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society (YCGHS) on their Family Portrait Project to document the faces of 21st century Yates County for use in the Society's genealogical research files. Imagine your descendants, 50 or more years in the future, looking through the Society's files for information on you and your family, and imagine their delight to find not only some first-hand biographical information from you but a photo of you and your loved ones as well!
The Family Portrait Project aims to collect portraits of today's citizens of Yates County, along with family history information, to hold in the Society's files for future researchers. Come in for a portrait sitting at the Oliver House and complete the simple form to tell us about your life and a bit of your family's background. You'll receive a CD of photos from your sitting as well as your choice of prints (see below) for a very reasonable cost. This project is ideal for multi-generation families, individuals, or couples.
The next sitting appointments are available during the Society's Starshine open house in Penn Yan on Friday, December 2. The doors will open at 5:00 pm, and besides the opportunity to be photographed, residents will enjoy the Victorian era rooms, the Native American artifacts exhibit, and the Steamin’ On Keuka exhibit now on the first floor. A new exhibit, This Is What We Do: Archives and Artifacts, will take the viewer through the fascinating process of accepting, cataloging, preserving, and displaying historic items. Please plan to stop by and enjoy the toy tree, the Victorian ornament tree, and, of course, the holiday cookies. (Please note that Starshine activities such as the Miss Penn Yan contest will be held on Old Courthouse lawn this year.) And of course, dress appropriately for your portrait sitting!
Call Lisa at the Society today to schedule your portrait sitting: (315) 536-7318. Other dates between December 2 and Christmas are available by appointment, so if you are planning a family reunion in the near future, be sure to include the Family Portrait Project in your plans and phone ahead for an appointment. Your photos will be perfect for use in your holiday cards this year!
