On March 24, 2007, my fiance, his son, and I attended a peace rally on Boston Common sponsored by a number of peace groups, joined unexpectedly (at least by me) by about 800 people who had walked across the state of Massachusetts to focus attention on environmental/global warming issues. Later, organizers estimated there were about 4,000-5,000 folks on the Common that day.
Among the 300 or so pictures I shot are some I will post here in coming days as I sort through my digi-files. First, a few shots of one of my heroes, the great American social activist and historian Howard Zinn, author of A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, who spoke to the crowd, encouraging peaceful protest and participation in our own destiny in his usual inimitable plain-speaking, commonsense style.
